Homeschool Mom Offers Homeschool News Blog
April 9,2005
CLEVELAND, OH -- A regularly updated source of news, views and tips for homeschoolers from families around the country is now available at www.HomeschoolMomTips.blogspot.com. The idea of Victoria Carrington, M.D., former psychiatrist who is now a homeschooling mom, the blog will serve to fill a void in the growing field of homeschooling websites. Dr. Carrington says, “I found that when I was first considering homeschooling, I had a lot of questions about homeschooling. I especially wondered what the future of homeschooling was and I wanted to learn about important trends in home education. I had to subscribe to a number of different news sites to find good information. Now, as a new homeschooling mom, I want to continue to keep up with legal, economic, social and academic developments in homeschooling so that I can remain informed and become active if needed. So that is why I started the homeschool mom blog.”
As homeschooling continues to grow quickly as an educational alternative, many challenges and changes will occur that homeschoolers should stay aware of and share with others in their community. As studies are released, legislation is passed and groups are formed, homeschoolers will want to know what is happening across the country. Attention from the mainstream media is accelerating the growth of homeschooling and homeschooling families should know what is being said about them nationwide. Awareness can help families formulate appropriate responses to those who may not support their home education efforts and can help currently homeschooling families encourage those considering homeschooling.
Why a blog and not a traditional website? Blogs are easily updated, even several times a day, people can leave comments making them interactive and blogs can be used as RSS feeds so that users can receive regular updates on the blog without having to come back to the site.
Dr. Carrington is urging homeschoolers to visit the site and add their own comments to help all those are homeschooling or considering homeschooling. The site can be visited at www.HomeSchoolMomTips.blogspot.com.
