We received a buyer for our home the first day it went on the market. However, the sale of our home is now 10 days past the original closing date. Please pray that all gets worked out soon and we can begin our homeschooling journey on the road.

I just said a prayer for your family. What is the hold up with the house?

Thanks. A slow mortgage broker is the problem. The original closing date was the 8th. He had 1 month to close it. He didn't even get the appraisal until the 6th!

The worse part is that the buyer is in a bind also. The house they currently own and are living in, they already have it rented out. And the renters already paid for Sept also!

FINALLY! We closed on the house last week and have driven straight up to Maine before the winter sets in. Now we are a full-time "roadschooling" family. Thanks for all your prayers.

I hope maybe we can stop and see some of you as we travel around the country.

Hi Mark,

You have my prayers.

I wish that we had as much to say. Not only have we been delayed in the sale of our house, we are in jeopardy of losing our $5000 deposit on the new house. That construction has been stalled indefinitely and nobody is happy. God has His reasons and they are indeed mysterious. I just hope we get some good feeling soon, either way.

Rich

Why would you lose your deposit if it is no fault of your own?

Hi Barti,

Although it isn't over yet, this situation seems to be working out satisfactorily. To answer your question, we signed a contract in which was specified that our house would be under contract by a certain date and the new house would be completed by a certain date. Both of which have long since passed. Never did we imagine like many others lately, that the bottom would fall out of the real estate market. The builder continued to build even though our contract with him expired. He also knew that we weren't under contract to sell yet. It was our prompting which drew his attention to that fact and it was his "seller agent" who tried to exercise the contract- even when we pointed out that it had expired. Ironically, out of the clear blue, the builder's business manager contacted our buyer agent and said that they would be releasing our deposit. We were just in the process of seeking legal counsel, too. God does truly work in mysterious ways. It must be that we are not supposed to move because this is the second time in three years that plans to do so have not worked out. Thanks for asking
