I have a lot of experience in database/system design work and have different programs on my laptop to do that. I have also recently gotten Macromedia Suite (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, FreeHand, & HomeSite), so theoretically I could start designing websites as well.

My big question for those of you who do website design is this: Often I will see websites with pictures of people that I know have nothing to do with the company. Is there someplace where you can buy pics for website design? Do you have favorite sources for clipart?

I would appreciate any insight to this.

Thanks.

Hi Ed,
There are many different sources for this on the web. Do a Google search on "stock photos" or "royalty free photos". Different companies have ways to sell them depending on your usage. You can pay per photo, there's package deals, or there's an annual membership for unlimited uses. You really need to shop around, determine how many you may use, and then decide what works best for your situation. BigStockPhoto.com is one source that is fairly reasonable.

I hope that helps. When you do get a website done, let us know what it is so we can check it out. Smile

Mark

Ed,
I took a look at your website. You're right. It does need some "dressing up". Also, I would consider doing away with the "frames" and making individual HTML pages with the navigation on each one. This works much better with search engines and helps people find you. Also consider adding some Meta Tags to the code for description purposes. (again to help search engines categorize you)

There's a good article here on frames:

And some other info here that may be usefull:
